Top 5 travel destinations

Based on all of my trips, I would say that the most common question I get from people is, “Where is your favourite place to visit?” I find it challenging to respond to that question because there’s something I’ve loved about the forty five countries I’ve visited.

How can my options be reduced?

As someone who is constantly itching to see something new, it is hard to narrow down to just five. However, how I determined which is my favourite place to visit would be based on the following:

  • How safe I felt when I was there
  • Could I see myself returning/moving there

I wasn’t going to put this in any particular order however this would be a lie. Starting strong and coming in at first place would be Singapore.

SINGAPORE

I have wanted to visit Singapore for as long as I can remember. It was always a destination I wanted to visit while I was planning long-term trips, particularly in Asia.

Singapore really does have something for everyone from Hawker Centres, to the bustling streets of Chinatown. You can’t be bored in a country like Singapore.

One of the most famous talking points and what entices travellers to visit whether it’s a layover or an actual trip is the Changi Airport. This airport has everything from a gigantic play area to butterfly gardens. It’s crazy to think an airport can have so much. I’m already looking forward to my next trip or layover there.

Why is Singapore my favourite destination

I can count on my fingers the number of countries I’ve felt extremely safe in, to the point where I would happily walk the streets at night alone. One being Singapore. For me Singapore really felt like home (if that even makes sense).

Most of the activities available are free which would include:

  • Garden By the Bay
  • Chinatown
  • Little India
  • Arab Street
  • Sentosa Island 🏝️ which includes beautiful beaches, skyline luge, Zipline and many more
  • Marina Bay Sands

I will be doing a separate blog post on my time in Singapore so stay tuned.

ICELAND

Reykjavik the capital of Iceland really was a birthday trip of a lifetime. Another bucket list trip which I was able to experience with two of my best friends.

While this trip was more on the expensive side it was worth every penny. It’s full of amazing natural wonders, rich history and interesting traditions.

Why visit Iceland?

  • Blue Lagoon
  • Northern Lights (if you’re lucky)
  • Waterfalls
  • Volcanoes
  • Caves
  • Hot springs

For me this trip was so special because we were so lucky to have been able to experience the northern lights and for that I can only thank god. That experience was a once in a lifetime.

Iceland is a cold one so make sure you wrap up warm. But there’s so many beautiful spots that are worth exploring.

DUBAI

Dubai has seen significant change and is currently regarded as one of the most advanced areas in the Middle East. Once a tiny fishing village, Dubai has grown into a glitzy, beautiful city that welcomes one million tourists each year.Referred to as the Pearl of the Middle East, the city prides itself on its rich cultural past and offers a stunning fusion of modern living and an atmosphere of old Arabia.

Dubai is also another country that offers so much from beach clubs to sky dives. I feel like no matter how many times you visit, there will always be something new to see and do. I love a country that you can visit and not get bored off.

What’s on offer:

  • Quad Biking
  • Jet Skiing
  • Beach Clubs
  • Dubai Mall
  • Boat trips & many more

LAS VEGAS

You either love or you loathe vegas much like marmite. As someone who loves it, I’ve been there twice now.

The bright lights of Las Vegas a place that is always alive and has something that you keep wanting more off. Vegas is familiar for its party scene, movie spots, gambling, pool and club scene. I love a place you can do touristy stuff during the day and turn up at night and that sums vegas up.

This might be one of my favourite trips because I ticked off another bucket list moment, when me and the girls took a helicopter ride above some of the most iconic monuments of Vegas, which included the Bellagio, Fremont street and Sin city.

What else does Vegas offer:

  • Fountain shows
  • Caesar Palace
  • Drai’s beach & night club & many more

POLAND

I didn’t think I’d enjoy Poland as much as I did. Krakow had the perfect mix of history and the party scene. As well as this you’ll find Poland to be very cheap.

Poland is good because you can do it in a weekend if you’re limited on time. If there’s one thing you should consider when in Krakow you need to take a trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau, you get a guided tour and you get to learn more than you may have already known. It’s a very emotional day so do bring tissues.

Other things you can do:

  • Old town
  • Salt mines
  • Wódka Cafe Bade & more
